100% on the way… is not what you think ;)

100% One Hundred Percent in 100 days

September 1 – December 9

Have you ever been on the top of a mountain? The view is beautiful and you can see everything that is below with a clear picture. You can even see where you’re headed after you admire the view. It is a daunting task getting there but not impossible. We believe that is the story of our journey through the support raising process.  We are at the point of the hike where the slope gets steep and the pace has to pick up. The plan is to reach the summit in 100 days.

If someone had told us eight months ago that we would be at 56% of our On-Going support, we would not have idea of how that happened. However, God’s hand has moved clearly and continues to do so. We are very grateful for God’s care, his love, and how He is preparing us to reach the goal and serve in Panama full time.

Jumping to the present, now that God has brought us to ReachGlobal, it is necessary for us to have 100% of support to do the ministry full time. We have received invitations to develop teaching workshops for Bible teachers and students, and we must keep them on hold because of this condition. As the year ends (in only four months) our hearts are ready, our focus in the horizon of the future, and above all, we put these challenges in God’s hands.

Having an entire career of missions in Panama, does not necessarily mean we have been fully supported.  Through prayer and God’s direction we are allowed this new opportunity. And it’s been a year minus 100 days since we were accepted as missionaries in this adventure! The prayer to the Lord is that in December it will be possible to complete the support goal and be ready for 2018.

2018 is coming fast, believe it or not, and it calls for a change of pace. Until now we have had a great and constant pace hiking this mountain, but the terrain is changing. We now have a different team, different leadership. It stretches us in really good ways that allow us to grow as people. It’s improving our language skill, both in English and Spanish. In English, we improve because our team is composed of mostly native English speakers that help us fine-tune the way we communicate. We improve in Spanish also because we have learned how to better help our friends and teammates understand idioms, Panamanian culture, and mini grammar lessons. Trust me, it’s a fun process for both.

But we can’t stop there! Remember, so far we’re half way through the journey to the summit. How silly would it be to stay there? We really cannot be effective in our ministry in that manner. Reaching the summit will not be the end, but we won’t have a clearer picture of the rest of the journey until we can see from the top of the mountain.

Acts 26:16-18 (NIV)

16 ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. 17 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
